Detection of Brucella canis infection in Pit Bull breed dogs in Turkey

Brucella canis infection is an often neglected but important zoonotic disease. This study aims to determine its seroprevalence in Pit Bull dogs from the Western Region of Turkish Anatolian Peninsula. In Province Manisa, 2 mL blood samples were taken antebrachial region 35 using sterile K2EDTA (3.6 mg) tubes, and analyzed both mercaptoethanol (ME) microagglutination test B. canis–specific PCR techniques. Of tested by 2–ME RSAT, 13 (37.14%) positive 22 (63%) negative. that for 8 (22.85%) female, 5 (14.28%) male. Subsequent analysis all revealed 7 (20%; 7/35) RSAT actually positive. These findings suggest present dogs, although they provide a general idea disease's prevalence disease region. Multicentre studies with larger numbers cases different groups Bulls, such as healthy, patient risk groups, are needed comprehensive evidence.
